A Life in the Closet

A child alone in the dark, what seems to be the only way to live, reaches out his hand just to get it slapped.

The curiosity of what lye beyond the door…. The light that he feared would be so bright it may blind him, he left the door barely cracked.

Sitting in frustration, unsatisfied with all aspects of his life that he was taught. The food was stale and tasteless, the school books-torn, the belief’s installed-outdated.

If only he could experience life through opportunity…

Due to other insecurities, this poor boy will remain in his dark world of unselected ignorance. Boring and lifeless. Without change, without light. No growth. Wilted was the soul within, just as a flower with no sun. The body grew, but the soul-stunted.

A life in the closet.

Men of the Sea

As the huge boats approach the docks, the families of the fisherman wait patiently with excitement. Their eyes filled with tears of joy. Their hearts beating with anticipation.

The smell of the air, the sound of the seagulls, the taste of the salt from the waters.

Months have passed since they last saw their loved ones.

The sun reflecting off the magnificent waves. The fog horns being sounded…

The glorious approach of those who had been lost at sea for what seemed to be an eternity.

What a glorious moment it was to have and see everyone home safe. To see everyone in each other’s arms.

The embrace of love and connectivity, even if only a dream…

Something Really Likes the Stairs

I was at my girlfriend’s house this past weekend. I have not been there in about two years. Her house is nice and roomy. She has very tall ceilings which gives it a nice spacious feel, and the stairs that lead to the bedrooms, can be seen from the dining room where I was sitting.

While I was getting aquatinted with her children, I kept seeing something going up and down the stairs. At first I thought it was one of her kids because it appeared to be small, it looked similar to a child. Then I saw it again, but this time the children were downstairs right in front of me. I actually stood up because I wanted to catch a good look. My attempt failed, I could not make out any specific form, so I kept it to myself.

Later that day when I was sitting next to my daughter, I kind of whispered to her that I was seeing something hanging around the front door. I also told her I saw it go up and down the stairs several times. She quickly turned her knees inward and leaned toward me. With a distracted look on her face she said, “I saw it too.” She explained how she wasn’t sure what she was seeing, but she did in fact notice it.

Haunted House

There was a house we once rented. It was a little older than most. There were four floors…the basement, the main floor, upstairs where the bedrooms were, and the attic.

There were a set of stairs that you had to walk up in order to get to the attic. It wasn’t the popular pull down style. The whole house was weird.

My first strange experience with this house was when I was about eight months pregnant with my first child. I had opened the door that led to the attic and saw an image of a small child with blonde hair, tumble down the stairs. It took my breath away because it scared me. I slammed the door real fast, and yelled out to my mother.

I went running down stairs to where my mom was, and told her of the event. I was thrown by it. I never saw anything like that before. That’s when it all started.
