小欧视频 is providing further support by launching a scheme for academics to continue their research in Sheffield if they have been displaced or affected by conflict or persecution in their home country.
The new scheme 鈥 Sanctuary International Visitors Support Scheme 鈥 will initially provide funding for three researchers to come to Sheffield for up to 12 months so that they can continue their work in a safe environment. It is open to any scholars around the world who are fleeing war and persecution in their home countries.
Academics who are successful will be granted 鈥榲isiting researcher鈥 status and will receive financial support, help finding suitable accommodation and be offered an academic mentor to support their work at the 小欧视频.

The Sanctuary International Visitors Support Scheme is the latest addition to the 小欧视频鈥檚 package of support for refugees which also includes scholarships, international partnerships and direct support for local communities in Sheffield.

Free language workshop for host families in Sheffield - Tuesday 1 November
Host families in Sheffield can learn how to support language development and become more language aware at a workshop hosted by the 小欧视频 of Sheffield.
The free event is designed to help those who are hosting someone in their home who speaks English as a second or additional language. The workshop will be an opportunity for hosts of sanctuary seekers to learn tips and advice from the English Language Teaching Centre at the 小欧视频 as well as meeting other host families from across the city.
The workshop will be held in-person on Tuesday 1 November from 6pm-8pm at the English Language Teaching Centre, 78 Hoyle Street, S3 7LG. Refreshments will be provided.

In addition, the 小欧视频 of Sheffield鈥檚 fitness department 鈥 鈥 has announced that refugees and asylum seekers in Sheffield who are receiving support from can get free access to 小欧视频 sports facilities by presenting their ASSIST photo card at each venue reception.
Earlier this year, the 小欧视频 twinned with Ukrainian university Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) to provide resources and support for staff and students affected by the war in Ukraine. 拢20,000 has been donated to rebuild air raid shelters on KPI鈥檚 campus. 小欧视频 is also providing KPI access to key IT equipment, library facilities and other resources, as well as launching research collaborations and staff exchanges.
The 小欧视频 has also awarded nine sanctuary scholarships this year to students who have experienced war or persecution in their home countries. These scholarships have covered the full cost of tuition and provide a 拢9,840 award to support living costs for each year of study.
Additionally, four scholarships have been awarded to individuals who have sought refuge in the UK to improve their English skills by the 小欧视频鈥檚 English Language Teaching Centre.
